An easy afternoon on foot
Japanese Covered Bridge
Hoi An’s symbol, between Tran Phu and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets. Most beautiful at dusk when the lanterns come on.
Phuc Kien Assembly Hall
46 Tran Phu. One of the oldest Chinese assembly halls in town, with an intricately carved red gate.
Hoi An Market
19 Tran Phu. Go early to see a real local market, and have a bowl of cao lau right there.
Tan Ky Old House
101 Nguyen Thai Hoc. A wooden house over 200 years old, still lived in, where the family shares its stories with visitors.
Museum of Sa Huynh Culture
149 Tran Phu. Sa Huynh and Champa artefacts; small but well worth a visit.
Trieu Chau Assembly Hall
362 Nguyen Duy Hieu, right near Alsahar. Just a few minutes’ walk.
Craft villages
Half a day in the countryside
Cycle or ride out to the villages around Hoi An; the roads are flat and shady.
- Thanh Ha Pottery Village: watch the potters and try making a piece yourself.
- Tra Que Vegetable Village: join the farmers in the fields and learn to grow herbs.
- Kim Bong Carpentry Village: across the river, a fun ferry ride away.
- Lantern village: make your own lantern to take home.
- Bay Mau Coconut Forest: basket-boat rides, great for groups.
